THE MENTOR
THE SHOOT PROJECT

In 2013 Shoot began working on a concept to develop a youth focussed teaching program and kit for use by youth workers, teachers, mentors to enable young people to engage in photography to increase their self esteem, gain skills in photography and increase their personal growth.

Shoot could see that "The Project" would work with a range of young people across the community in both rural remote areas and urban settings and could improve the outcomes across a range of areas of need such as geographically isolated youth, youth at risk, youth with mental health issues and youth with chronic illness or special needs.

During the year she worked with several groups of young people in the community mentoring on landscape, music and fashion projects with outstanding results proving creative talent can be nurtured, skills taught and confidence gained through the

lens. Developing social skills, teamwork, constructive critique and becoming world wide authors were also major benefits of the test programs.

In 2014 Shoot was awarded a Churchill Fellowship that allows passionate and talented Australians to undertake overseas reasearch to see their goals realised for the benefit of the country.
